Akron (4-2) at Creighton (7-1)
Time: 2:05 today.
Where: CenturyLink Center, Omaha, Neb.
Radio/TV: WARF (1350-AM), ESPN3.
Notebook: You generally can tell how huge a game is by the level of intensity University of Akron coach Keith Dambrot shows during practice. After Friday’s session, it’s shocking that Rhodes Arena is still standing. The Zips have been close to knocking off a couple of bigger programs this year, but this might be the biggest fish they could catch. Creighton is ranked No. 16 in the AP Top 25 poll and No. 13 in the USA Today coaches poll. To pull off the upset, the Zips will need to contain forward Doug McDermott (21.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game) and center Gregory Echenique (10.7 points, 7.1 rebounds per game). The arena seats close to 18,000 fans so the Zips cannot let that get to them. The most obvious thing to do: take the crowd out of the game as early as possible.
