Actor Dustin Diamond as Screech in NBC's Saved By the Bell.

1) Dustin Diamond, 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, the Funny Stop, 1757 State Road, Cuyahoga Falls, $10-$14, 330-923-4700, www.funnystop.com.

Yeah, Screech is back. He was on “Saved by the Bell,” he was on “Celebrity Boxing 2,” he was in a home-made porn flick, he’s been seen on “Celebrity Fit Club” and recently he was a contestant on “Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling.” The parameters of what we consider “celebrity” are constantly widening.

2) The University of Akron Steel Drum Band and Beach Party, 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Akron Civic Theatre, 182 S. Main St., $5-$10, 330-253-2488.

The hardest-working, collegiate, steel-drum band in the land wants you to pretend that it’s not sub-freezing outside by enjoying a beach party in the grand lobby of the Civic Theatre before grooving to its smooth steel-drum sounds. The event is sponsored by Akron Children’s Hospital

3) Neighboring Sounds, 6:30 tonight, Akron Art Museum, 1 S. High St., Free, http://akronartmuseum.org, 330-376-9185.

Akron Film+Pixel is holding this screening of the acclaimed Brazilian film “Neighboring Sounds,” directed by Kleber Mendonça Filho, which was hailed in the New York Times, the Village Voice and other fancy publications.

4) Second annual Stone Soul Ball, 7 p.m. Saturday, Presidents Hall at Akron Urban League, 440 Vernon Odom Blvd., $15 per person and $25 couples in advance, $20 per person day of show, 330-869-2104, 330-869-0023.

Local musician Gary Oliver simply loves to play for folks. To ensure he can do that, he organizes, promotes and finances shows for his Relatively Jammin’ Blues Band (made up entirely of his kin). Aside from the RJBB’s blues and classic R&B heavy set, there will be several contests for tickets to B.B. King’s June show at the Civic Theatre and other prizes.

5) Girls Night: The Musical, 8 p.m. Saturday Jan, 26, Akron Civic Theatre, 182 S. Main St., 330-253-2488 $34 and $44, www.akroncivic.com.

This estrogen-fueled jukebox musical is loaded with lady-centric tunes from the 1980s and 1990s, including “Lady Marmalade” and “It’s Raining Men” as it tells the story of a group of female friends looking at their lives.
