Kent State senior Michael Heller concluded his collegiate career by finishing 175th overall at the NCAA Division I Men’s Cross Country Championships Saturday. Heller’s time was 31:22.2 in the 10K.

Heller, the lone representative of the Mid-American Conference in the race, had a great career and season for the Golden Flashes. He placed in the top 10 in each of the first six meets of the season and is the only Golden Flash to earn all-conference accolades in all four years.

University of Akron softball coach Julie Jones announced that Savannah Fruin and Alyssa Nicholas signed national letters of intent to join the program in 2014.

Fruin, a middle infielder out of Spanish River High School in Boca Raton, Fla., is a two-time All-Conference and All-County selection including first team honors last season.

Nicholas, a catcher/third baseman from Cortland Lakeview High School, has been named First Team All-Conference in each of her first three high school seasons, and was MVP for the past two.
