Coach: Jeff Sharkey, fourth season at Barberton, 14th overall.
Coach’s record: 7-23 at Barberton.
2012 record: 2-8.
Players to watch: Corey Fox, Sr. WR/DB; Dennis Alexander, Sr. RB/DB; Ricky Swain, Sr. OL/DL; John Cominsky , Sr. QB/LB; Lewis Kafka, Soph. OLB;.
Outlook: Barberton has won only five games in two years and is looking to turn things around. At quarterback will be senior John Cominsky, who played in the final two games last year. Cominsky hit quite a growth spurt after last season, going from 6-foot-2, 200 pounds to 6-foot-5, 215 pounds. He’s a converted receiver and was already athletic. Now he has exceptional size, as well. Helping Cominsky is running back Dennis Alexander, who returns after a strong junior season. Around the roster, Sharkey said the front-line starters have talent, but the team lacks depth across the board. Multiple injuries at any one position could force the Magics to have players switch positions.
