Police have arrested an Akron man in a double shooting Tuesday that killed one man and critically wounded his brother.
Bryan Giles, 19, a cousin of the victims, is charged with aggravated murder, aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery.
Police said Giles went to the victims’ home in the 600 block of Madison Avenue and shot Jarrell Cunningham, 27, to death.
Terrell Patterson, 20, was shot in the face, but was able to walk to a gurney with the aid of paramedics. He remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Police were initially called to the home about 12:20 p.m. Tuesday and found Patterson injured and Cunningham dead. Giles was identified as the shooter and was arrested Thursday, police said.
Police Lt. Rick Edwards said he could not disclose what items were taken during the robbery and shooting. He said the shooting stemmed from a previous dispute between Cunningham and Giles.
“There was a personal issue between Mr. Cunningham and Mr. Giles that led to the shooting,” Edwards said.
Cunningham is the city’s third homicide victim this year and the third to die from gunshot wounds.
